A few years ago I attended a team training course facilitated by Janet Ahsfield. The course provided some very interesting strategies for team and personal development. It was the personal development elements of the course that caught my imagination and I arranged a private consultation with Janet that proved to be truly life changing.
At the time I had started to look into the possibility of earning a living from my hobby which was magic. I had no idea how to go about it or even if it was a viable proposition. Janet suggested some very simple strategies that basically changed my thought processes. I have a young family a mortgage and all the usual expenses that modern life entails.
Every time I thought about making a change I saw more obstacles than benefits, but once I had changed my way of thinking and focused on how I was going to achieve this change things started to happen. One strategy I used was to pin up photos of me performing magic all around the house so that my dream was constantly in view.
In the space of twelve months I am now a Professional Magician earning more than I did from my 9-5. My list of clients include Orange, Blackberry, Next, Selfidges, The Royal Navy, Southampton FC, Newcastle FC, Spec Savers, Tate and Lyle, The Rose Bowl, and many more.
The real bonus is I generally work around 3 days a week which enables me to share the child care responsibilities and I have more time with my 3 year old daughter Rosie.
Thank you mpowerme. Thank you Janet.

I just wanted to say a massive, massive, thank you for the support and coaching you gave to me. As I said I was not sure what to expect from the course, and to be honest with you had I thought initially it was going to be what it turned out to be I probably would not have come. IT JUST SHOWS YOU HOW WRONG I WOULD HAVE BEEN AND HOW MUCH I WOULD HAVE MISSED OUT!
I thought you were excellent in so many ways, and whilst I did not feel I took loads away in terms of life changing actions, what you did above everything else was give me an independent affirmation that the decisions I have made, and the course of action I have taken is the correct one. I now have a better understanding of where I am, and where I am going. As you say it will be interesting to see where I am in 12 months.
It has been a privilege to have met you.

When I first went to see Janet I was full of unknowns, what did I want from my life, how did i see myself, what did i value? I didn’t really know what to expect from a coaching session, but I wanted to get some sense of direction and purpose – I just didn’t know if and how it would work. What it gave me was focus and tools; focus by forcing me to think for the first time about what i really wanted from life, what it looked like, who was involved in this new life and it also made me realise that it was good to do this, not conceited or selfish, but something i owed myself. Tools – well the exercises that I did with Janet really steered me in the right direction and helped to change my mindset on how I viewed myself and what I deserved from life, as well as a clear plan to get there. I really think that anyone who doesn’t know quite where they are going in life, what they want or how to get it will benefit from the skills that coaching can give you. It has certainly empowered me to take the bull by the horns and reclaim control of my life.

Feedback from organisations employing Mpowerme
Downland have used Mpowerme for a new staff team who joined the organisation on a Tupe transfer.
‘The work that Janet from Mpowerme has done with this team has enabled an external viewpoint to be considered by staff and enabled them to reflect on services delivered, their own motivation, and how they would move forward with their new employee. The work has been invaluable – it has enabled the team to have an ear that is totally impartial to the organisation enabling a free exchange of views, which has benefited greatly the manager of the service and the team themselves. They were being listened to, and their views were considered as important and crucial to the future of the project.
The structure and pace of the project was well planned and delivered, and feedback was regular and appropriate in its format and content – although currently midway through the project the outcomes have already been positive, which is an investment that the organisation knows will give long-term benefits to staff, residents, commissioners and Downland.’

I have found the sessions I’ve attended extremely valuable, and have found being part of the group very beneficial, and I have still felt involved even when I have been unable to attend a session. The e-mails from Janet with their positive thought provoking messages have also been great.
The positive impact that attending sessions and being part of the group has had on me is that I now look at things from different perspectives, with a broader outlook and I will question initial negative thoughts and reactions I may have.
I haven’t made any dramatic changes in life yet and am still fearful about my future, but being part of this group has meant a great deal to me. I also feel that even if I felt more secure I would still value this group as it is about much more than just one specific issue.

The LEAP course would be very valuable to colleagues – three days to really make you think about yourself and your needs – invaluable! Janet you are a great trainer, very funny and likeable but also able to deal with the serious issues too.
